STV Series — Telescopic Winch Operated Masts

Interested in learning more about this product?

Overview

The STV Series consists of telescopic winch-operated composite masts designed for harsh military environments. These highly durable structures offer reliable elevation for communication systems, featuring hand or motorized deployment options and an integrated automatic safety brake.

Technical Summary

Constructed from pultruded composite materials, these masts deliver exceptional longitudinal stability, elasticity, and high radial hardness. The design includes four specialized longitudinal guideways that ensure smooth deployment and prevent section rotation. Erection is driven by a removable hand or motor-operated winch (STV-EW) utilizing a cogwheel transmission and reinforced polyester-aramide belts. Lowering is managed by a built-in automatic switch mechanism, eliminating the need for manual switching.

Operational Use Cases

  • Elevating communication systems in tactical field operations.
  • Orienting and stabilizing directional antennas.
  • Supporting rapid deployment operations requiring elevated payloads.

Deployment Environments

Engineered for extreme conditions, the STV Series is suitable for both field and vehicular applications. The masts are MIL-STD-810 compliant for harsh military environments and carry CE certification.

Setup & Portability

The STV Series is supplied with all necessary field erection accessories for immediate deployment. The standard kit includes dyneema guying ropes, ground anchors, and a base plate. The removable winch system allows for flexible setup and breakdown in mobile operations.

Compatibility

The anti-rotation guideways make this mast system highly compatible with directional antennas requiring fixed azimuth orientation. It supports both manual and motorized (STV-EW) winch modules.

FAQs

  • How do I select the right winch-operated mast for my payload? Payload capacity depends on the specific mast model and target elevation. Always verify the maximum supported load and extended height requirements against the specific model's datasheet before deployment.
  • How do these masts prevent directional antennas from rotating? Telescoping masts designed for directional antennas incorporate specialized longitudinal guideways. These tracks prevent individual sections from twisting during and after deployment, maintaining the antenna's required azimuth.
  • What safety features protect operators during mast lowering? Winch-driven masts typically utilize built-in automatic switch mechanisms and integrated safety brakes to control the descent under heavy loads. Operators must follow all manual guidelines and properly secure guying ropes.
  • Problems we solve: how do we choose a mounting or mast solution? Antenna loads, available space and deployment conditions can make mounting selection difficult. Bring those constraints to Cyntony to narrow options and identify load ratings, installation details and manufacturer questions that need confirmation (Our process).
  • Outcomes we deliver: what comes from working through the requirements? The practical outcome is a requirements-led set of product options to evaluate with Cyntony. Confirm performance, compatibility and any service scope for your configuration before selection (Our process).

Video Notes

Editorial Note: A field deployment video demonstrating the winch operation (hand vs. motorized STV-EW), anti-rotation guideways, and the installation of the guying ropes and base plate would be highly beneficial for this product page.
