RW3 — Three-Radio Remote Set

Interested in learning more about this product?

Overview

The RW3 Three-Radio Remote Set allows operators to control and use up to three radios from a remote location up to 5 km away via D-10 or P-274 field wire. The system enables a remote operator to select and speak over a specific radio or monitor voice traffic on all three radios simultaneously.

Technical Summary

The system consists of a Radio Interface Unit (RIU) that connects directly to the transceivers and a Remote Control Unit (RCU) utilized by the operator. Key capabilities include continuous field wire integrity checking, a built-in loudspeaker, and an operator CALL function.

Operational Use Cases

Typical applications include rapid high-site installations, underground mining communications, and general tactical radio remote operations where operators must remain physically separated from the RF transmitters.

Deployment Environments

Designed for rugged deployment, the set features IP67 immersion capability and compliance with MIL-STD-810G standards, making it suitable for harsh outdoor conditions and subterranean environments.

Performance Metrics

  • Maximum Remote Distance: 5 km
  • Radio Capacity: Up to 3 radios connected simultaneously

Setup & Portability

The two-part system deploys by placing the RIU near the transceivers and routing standard D-10 or P-274 field wire to the RCU at the operator's secure or remote location.

Compatibility

Interfaces with up to three tactical radios and utilizes standard D-10 or P-274 field wire for the remote connection.

FAQs

  • How does terrain affect tactical radio communications? Terrain features such as hills or mountains can block signals and cause poor communications. Siting the radio equipment in a better location often resolves this issue.
  • What causes poor radio communications in field environments? Common causes include excessive distance between sets, poor location choice, interference, and poorly maintained cable assemblies or equipment.
  • How can operators improve reception in challenging locations? Operators can move the radio transceiver to a more advantageous site to improve reception and overcome terrain obstacles.
  • Problems we solve: where do we start with incomplete requirements? An incomplete specification can make product selection difficult. Start by sharing the task, operating environment and known constraints with Cyntony so the team can help define what to verify and which options are worth discussing (Our process).
  • Outcomes we deliver: what comes from working through the requirements? The practical outcome is a requirements-led set of product options to evaluate with Cyntony. Confirm performance, compatibility and any service scope for your configuration before selection (Our process).

Video Notes

A video demonstrating the connection of the RIU to multiple radios, routing the field wire, and operating the RCU (including the CALL function and switching between radios) would be valuable for procurement teams.
